The Catechetical Homilies are one of the best expositions of the Orthodox Christian Faith and one of the most important documents concerning the liturgical practice of the early Church that has faithfully been preserved in the Orthodox Church to the present day. Delivered during the forty days before Pascha as a preparation for Baptism, they interpret the Creed and the fundamentals of the Orthodox Faith, and explain the sacred rites of Baptism and the Eucharist.
